Vert Tige means “green stem” in French. It is the part of a flower nobody photographs, and the part that decides how long it lives. We named the shop after it, and for seventeen years that is where our work has started.
In the shop, with two bouquets on their way out.
Where it began
Seventeen years ago we opened a small flower shop on Chafik Karami street in Tripoli. There was a worktable, buckets of flowers along the wall and a sign with two words on it. The idea was simple: flowers chosen by hand, tied by hand, and given to people by the same hands that made them.
Most of that has not changed. The shop has grown around it, the shelves have filled up, and the street outside looks different, but the worktable is still the centre of everything.
How a day starts
Long before the door opens at half past nine, the day’s flowers are already in. Every bunch is unwrapped and looked at one stem at a time. Each stem gets a fresh cut at an angle so it can drink, the leaves that would sit under the water come off, and everything goes into clean, cold water to rest before anyone sees it.
It is slow work, and nobody who buys a bouquet ever sees it. It is also the reason our flowers still look good days after they leave the shop.
Made on our worktable
Nothing at Vert Tige arrives ready-made. Every bouquet, every box and every arrangement is put together in the shop by the people you meet at the counter. We choose the flowers, the greenery, the paper and the ribbon for each one, so no two are ever quite the same.
Tell us who the flowers are for, what the day is, a colour they love or a budget you want to keep to, and we will build something around it. You can stand at the counter and watch it come together, or send us a message on WhatsApp and we will make it and bring it to the door.
At the worktable, where every bouquet begins.
Seventeen years of occasions
In seventeen years we have made flowers for almost every moment a family in Tripoli goes through. Roses for a first date and for a proposal. Arches, centrepieces and long dressed tables for weddings. Small, soft arrangements for a new baby coming home. Mother’s Day, Teachers’ Day, Valentine’s, a promotion, a win, a new house.
And the quieter ones. The bouquet sent because someone said sorry, or because someone was missed. The flowers for the days that are hard, when a card is not enough and words don’t come. Those are made with the same care as the happy ones, sometimes more.
More than bouquets
Over the years the shop grew with what people asked for. Flower boxes that arrive ready to set on a table. Gifts with chocolates tucked in beside the roses. Plants for a new home or a new office. Full flower design for weddings and events, from the entrance to the last table. Different shapes, the same worktable and the same hands behind them.
The language of flowers
The line under our name says what we really do. People come to us when they need to say something and do not quite have the words: congratulations, thank you, I love you, welcome home, I’m sorry, goodbye. Our job is to listen, and then to find the flowers that say it for them.
You bring the person. We'll find the flowers that say what you mean.
Come and see us on Chafik Karami street, Monday to Saturday from 9:30 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening, or send us a message and we will take care of the rest.
